What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is the treatment of emotional symptoms or
behaviors that interfere with daily living.  If you are having
difficulty coping in an area of your life or are not feeling the
ability to function at work, school, home, or in relationships,
you might benefit from seeing a psychotherapist.
How can psychotherapy benefit me?

I involve clients so they are active participants in the process of their treatment.
Together we look at how one might be "unbalanced" and how balance and
harmony in one's life can be achieved again.  In doing so we acknowledge
weaknesses, but focus on strengths.  We identify obstacles that might be faced,
but find new and creative ways to get around them.  We look at change not to be
avoided, but to be embraced as a time to learn about ourselves and grow.  We
acknowledge the past and respect it, but put more of our energy into creating
goals and moving forward so that balance and harmony can be achieved again.
As a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional
Counselor (LPC), I provide psychotherapy to individuals, families, and couples that
are self-referred or referred by another agency such as: a court system, hospital,
school, youth service bureau, primary care physician, another therapist, etc.

My fee for therapeutic services is $120.00 per session with an initial intake
session fee of $150.00.
the intake session fee can be paid in full or paid against a balance if not using insurance)

I do have a sliding scale according to household income for clients unable to
afford services (
see formula below).

Fees and existing balances for therapeutic services can be paid weekly or
monthly when clients receive their monthly statements in the mail.  Fees can be
paid by cash, check, and in addition by credit card through PayPal
(You do not need
an account to use PayPal as a payment method)

To use PayPal to pay for services or an existing balance, click the PayPal button.

I do accept insurance.  As of 3/19/18 I am on the panels of the following
insurance companies
(come back to check this list for updates as some companies are pending):

  • Aetna

  • Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield

  • Coventry Health Care/First Health Network

  • Consumer Health Network/North East Health Direct

  • HUSKY A, B and D

  • Magellan

  • Managed Health Network Inc. (MHN)

  • MultiPlan/Private Health Care Systems (PHCS)

  • Tricare

  • United Behavioral Health/ConnectiCare/Oxford

  • Value Options

If your insurance company is not on this list as of yet,  I may be able to work with you as an
"out of network provider." Please check with your insurance carrier regarding your mental
health benefits.  If not on the list above, contact me so I can apply to the panel of your
insurance company.

Please contact me if you have questions on how to access your mental health
benefits or need referrals to more affordable mental health clinics.
Sliding Scale -- The sliding scale is based on
household income to be determined by either last
year's tax return or three recent consecutive
payroll stubs. The amount of the sliding scale is
calculated as follows:
  • For every $1000.00 of annual income the session
rate increases by $2.00 with a cap of $120.00 and
    a minimum of $50.00.
  • $4,000.00 is deducted from the total annual income
    for every claimed dependent.
  • For example, a client with an income of $50,000.00
with three dependents would have a sliding scale
    rate of $76.00 ($50,000 - $12,000 worth of
    dependents = $38,000 annual income).
